BKD Leaders COO, Kristen Deptula, interviews Brent Rutemiller, CEO of Swimming World Magazine and International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF). Our interview explores Brent’s experience as the driving force behind the successful merger of these two iconic aquatic institutions. He shares wisdom about being a visionary champion for all aquatic sports. Rutemiller is very committed to revitalizing ISHOF, and adding value to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Community. He began his career in 1976 as an assistant coach in Northern Kentucky, and likes to say that Chlorine is in his DNA. Brent is building a team worth following and is a true leader in change management. One of his goals is to build a growth plan for ISHOF and foster relationships to expand and enhance member experiences.
On Saturday, May 19th ISHOF hosts their annual Induction Class of 2018. This year’s honorees include Swimmers: Rebecca Adlington (GBR), Amanda Beard (USA), and Libby Trickett (AUS); Water Polo Player: Brenda Villa (USA); Contributor: Andy Burke (USA); Diver: Irina Lashko (USSR, RUS, AUS); Coach: Bill Sweetenham (AUS); Synchronized Swimmer: Miho Takeda (JPN); Open Water Swimmer: Petar Stoychev (BUL); and Pioneer Synchronized Swimming Contributor: Joy Cushman (USA). Ian Crocker (USA) was a part of the Class of 2017, but was unable to attend the induction due to Hurricane Harvey.
